Welcome to the Big Island Amateur Radio Club web site.
Our locators:
Before June 1975 our club was known as EARC-Hilo Branch, with the main branch being in Honolulu. The BIARC was incorporated in June 1975 but was un-incorporated in July 1976. In August 1995 we received our current Hawaii State Incorporation. BIARC is a 501(c)(7) tax exempt Federal entity. Most years we have just over 100 members. We participate in several group activities througout the year, including Field Day and the Kilauea Volcano Wilderness Runs, a number of footraces held on the slopes of the volcano. One of the events we participate in is the Annual Big Island International Hamfest. For more information about the 2012 event, click on the Hamfest link at the left. From Hawai'i, excepting a few other islands, it's somewhat over 2,300 miles to the nearest land. Of course, being near a salt water ground plane has it's benefits, but operating from here can still be a challenge! Feel free to explore our site, and if you have suggestions or comments, please let us know by clicking on one of the links at the bottom of each page and filling out one of the forms. These forms are used in place of a simple mailto because of the harvesting of email addresses by spammers. |
